I Loaded up my powder horn with triple 7 before I went out and I had some fff still in it,, I got my new 1 in 66 twist for my Hawken 50 cal and the first 2 patches were just fine,, but then ALL the rest were burnt to a crisp,, So I was thinkin ,,,, could it be that the triple 7 was to hot ??? I am usin 100 gns. Tried 90 but didn't like the pattern as much and they were burnt also,,

Have tried all of the synthetic stuff and always go back to FFFg
black powder. Flawless ignition, more consistant results. Of course
I am a round-baller. K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid!).

Lyman Great Plains .54.
Dixe Tennessee .32 & .36
Cabelas Blue Ridge .32 & 45

hobbles,

Welcome to the Forum. I read your second post and understand you "put triple 7 in your powder hown that still contained some fff in it." I would not think mixing triple 7 and fff is a good ideal and it will make testing loads a crap shoot. When I test powders, I keep them separate to get better results. Maybe you need another test shoot keeping triple 7 separate. Hope this helps.

Adam
