got my first hunting rifle

hi,

I just got my hunting license last January. Havent been up hunting yet. Anyways I got my first hunting rifle. Its a .35 remington, I went out and shot it. Man it was cool. Felt really solid.

Correct me if Im wrong, but thats based off the .308 Winchester, correct? Or am I losing it

The .35 Remington was introduced around (I'm doing this from memory) 1910 or something like that. It predates the .308 by quite a bit.

Lots of people think it deserves more respect than the .30-30 which is much more of a "contemporary" of the .35. Very similar trajectory, but the .35 shoots heavier and, obviously, fatter bullets.

It is very likely that .35 remington's rifle is a lever action.

yea its a lever action. It does shoot a heavier round...I want to hunt with it whitetails or mulies.

Hello 35 remington,

Congratulations on your rifle, it's probably a good one and should make a good brush bucker. The caliber has been around for many years, and it still has a rather sizable following. Best wishes.

Congrats on the .35. It's one of my favorite rounds. If you get to reloading, you can load .357 pistol bullets for some cheap, fun plinking ammo.
