Recommendations for new handgun

I'm looking for a new .40 S&W auto pistol. Any recommendations? I don't want a hammerless model as much as I like the feel of something like the XD40. Want both single and double action capability. I looked at a CZ 75B locally and really liked the feel, but don't know a thing about them. Felt a Sig I liked too. Fill me in on the details guys. Thanks

The CZ is an excellent deal for the money. Sig's are also very nice, but more costly. Both of these guns will shoot and I've seen them work in USPSA and IDPA.

Depending on the sig you may not be able to carry it cocked and locked. I've never shot one that could, but I've only shot a few.

HK is also an option, but once again, quite a bit more than the CZ.

I have a full size H&K USP in 40 S&W and really enjoy it. I rented several different guns at the range before buying my USP. I have never had any problem at all. I had a Sig before in 9mm and sold it after getting the H&K. My Sig did not like cheap ammo has to stick with the good stuff. My H&K will shoot anything.

If you have a range near by that rents handguns that is a great help in picking the gun for you.

If you liked the CZ, then give the Baby Eagles a look, too. I have one in 9mm and would consider it every bit as good as my Beretta. (The Baby Eagles, IIRC, are modeled after CZ's)
That said, I would also reccomend the Beretta 96. It's an excellent gun. A bit pricey, though. My vote usually goes for the Baby Eagle, anytime someone wants "value."

Some of the guns mentioned cannot safely be carried in both SA and DA modes.

Thanks guys. Ended up going with a Certified Pr-Owned SigPro 2340. Felt real nice in my hand and the price was right at $400.

You can't beat the CZ for the money or shooting and accuracy.
