Gold Shooting Competition

The region competition shoot was held over the weekend, and involves hunting style shooting. From 115 shooters I was top shooter = Gold Medal #1.

With rifle, at 100 meters, 5 shots standing supported on deer (shot 48); 5 shots freehand on boar (shot 49); 5 shots prone unsupported on fox (shot 49). With rifle, running boar is shot at 50 meters, 5 shots (shot 47).

All targets are of game and have point rings, from 10 down to 1. Max is 200 points -- I scored 193 and took high rifle = Gold Medal #2. In my Class, I was top shooter = Gold Medal #3. Our Team (5 shooters) took 1st place = Gold Medal #4.

I also shot the pistol event and our team took second = Silver Medal. I did ok with the shotgun, hitting 27 of 30 birds (15 Trap and 15 Skeet are shot, all from low gun). 5 points per bird left me 135 on shotgun plus the rifle 193 totalled me out at 328 from a possible 350 score. This may not sound hard but I say to those, come shoot and then tell me it ain't that hard!!

As Region Champion, I also won the trophy and get my name engraved in it as the North Baden Meister. Great weekend, great shoot, the trophy, 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and a couple of other prizes, along with a bottle of Champaign!! A tough shoot but I held my nerves together, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Great shooting Dom! I know for a fact that I couldn't come anywhere close to that! Especialy when there's a bunch of other fellows trying to do the same thing. Congrats on a great competitive effort!

Shooting for fun is one thing.. I would really like to shoot competitivly.
