Need info on Ljungman Rifle
I have recently acquired a Sweedish Military rifle manufactured by Ljungman. It is fitted with a quarter sized information tag---many numbers and letters. On top of barrel--a crown with this underneath:
19C 43 3601B Can anyone give me more information on this gun as I have not been able to find any on internet. Thanks -- Mikie |

mikie,
I see this is your first post; welcome to the Forum. The Swedish Ljungman AG-42 rifle used the direct impingment gas system to function the semi-auto action. The rifle was never universal issue in the Swedish Army, being issued a few per squad to provide additional firepower. The date of manufacture was split into two groups of two digits with the crowned "C" (royal cypher) in the middle. In your case, it is 19 C 43. The serial number lay below the date and on the left side of the bolt carrier to facilitate assembly. The AG-42 pattern was made in Egypt where it was chambered for the 7.92x57mm cartridge and known as the "Hakim." Hope this helps. Adam

Welcome to the Forum.
mikie,
Adam gave you solid information on your rifle. These are solid guns and getting harder to find and prices keep going up. A good source of information is "Small Arms of the World" by Smith and Smith. Most libraries should have a copy as well as many bookstores. It is a classic reference work with lots of pictures and reliable data on small arms. Hope this helps. All the best... Gil |

Gil,
Thanks for the backup on info. I forgot to tell mikie that the "quarter-sized information tag" is the arsenal measurement of bore condition at time of last inspection. I have seen prospective purchasers of one arm swap the stock disk off other rifles to make their rifle "look complete." Mikie, that stock disk states bore condition at time of last inspection, which may have been 40 or 50 years ago and may not reflect your arm's condition, provided the disk has not been swapped out and the arm has not had a lot of use since last inspection. I like Swedish arms and you have a fine rifle. If you have any further questions, just ask away and lots of knowledgeable folks will be glad to respond. Adam
