Angry CCW and Harley Davidson

I went to the Harley dealer in Dover,Oh Wednesday.I went in a side door and didnt notice the "No GUNs" sign.I found I bike I thought I would like to maybe buy but they wouldnt let me test it cause I had cutoff jeans on.I put a refundable deposit on it and returned Thursday to drive it and see what kind of deal we could make.Upon entering the store I saw the sign[no guns].I ask for my deposit back and told them I dont buy from any business that have these signs posted. They said Harley required them to have the sign up and they would be fined $20,000 if they didn't.I also left them a "No Guns No Cash"card from the Ohioans for Concealed Carry. I have since found out that ALL Harley dealers don't have the sign up.I also sent a letter to Harley HQ to find out the real policy.Since they dont have email it may take a few days.I will post Harley response when I receive it.

hi carl

i can almost bet the farm that you will get the standard reply back about customer safety blah, blah ad nauseam.

we don't have that problem here. however when i do enter a sporting goods store or place that sells guns i do inform the counter clerk that i am carrying. just in case. it's not required but i do it anyway.

i have a pin in my hip that sometimes sets off alarms when i exit a store. also i have no high pitch hearing left so i don't hear the alarms when they do go off. so i'm usually outside the store when a security person from the store comes running up behind me post haste. can be embarassing.

i must commend your organization for coming up with the "no guns, no cash card." thats a great idea. where do you get the cards? i'll be in ohio next month for our 50 high school reunion, i'd be glad to pass out the cards where ever i go, even though i can't legally carry in ohio.

LET ME KNOW.

I got a letter back from Harley Headquarters. They said the dealership is independently owned and they don't control the policy. But they said they are confident I can find another dealer that isnt posted. This means the dealer I mentioned lied about the $20,000 fine from Harley if they didnt post a No Guns sign.

Harley sucks. I live 3 miles from the plant here in York. Their whole facility is enclosed by a fence. Well some deer were in there, maybe 100 of them. (Pa. state game law says that you cannot erect a fence if it encloses wildlife or if wildlife gets in, you cannot keep the game enclosed) Anyway, there were about a dozen buck that if taken by bow would get you in the record books, they were that nice. harley decides they don't want the deer there. Supposedly they were diseased, but in the next breath Harley claimed they were going to donate the meat to the needy. Donating diseased meat? Ok.

People were up in arms about slaughtering the deer but the Pa Shame Commission sided with Harley(big surprise huh). So instead of having a lottery type bow hunt, possibly for the handicapped or moving the deer(alt's antler restrictions were being forced down our throats at this time) Harley hired some outfit to slaughter all the deer. No loved lost for them here.

I agree with TD, get a bike that doesn't sound like a busted chainsaw.
