yeesh do those damn pellets have gold in them or what? last year 23 dollars a box this year its gettin near 28, so being that my gun loves a load of 2 pellets and a 295 grain PB, at a dollar each, i cant afford to shoot, makes me sad

kt,
like me, you are coming to the reality that it costs $$$ to hunt and shoot. Throw fishing in there and you might as well declare bankruptcy.

I never figure the $ on outdoor recreation as if you did you would soon be sitting home watching Opra and Doc. Phill.
Price don't bother me any compared to gallon of gas or bottel of beer.

Try the powder pyrodex. It's alot
cheaper. Some say that you should reduce the load to be equivilent to the charge in pellets. I don't know. I've never had a problem using 100 grains of pyrodex powder. |

I got tired of the high price of pellets along with all the cleaning and traded for a savage. You burn a third less powder and no rust.

I just read about the Savage in my most recent edition of American Hunter. Something like that would be a joy to shoot. I might just have to get one this fall and make my black powder season a little easier on me.

Check your states laws before running out to buy a Savage (if any are still around, I believe Savage dumped them or are planning to?)
Here in Michigan, you must use blackpowder or a blackpowder substitute during the muzzleloading season and if you use the muzzleloader in our shotgun only zone during regular firearm season. In our rifle zone, during regular firearms season, smokeless is legal. So in this state, the Savage offers no practical advantage for muzzleload hunting. |

I have used the pyrodex pellets and loose powder with similar results.
For my money though, I will use 100 gr of the Triple 7 loose powder.
