Sharptail Opener

First day sharptail season here. Hot and very windy early this morning.
Son and I got out at 8:15 We got five. Decided to quit early. Was already 80 out by 9:30. The old lab is now in his tenth season.
Rested and watered him frequently. He was a happy old boy and did a good job this morning. Was great to get bird season started. Have a Great Day!--tr

Congrats Rainy. Our season doesn't start until the 23rd. Not that it will probably make much difference, we don't have many birds again this season, which is to bad what with all the grass and insects this year they would have done very well this year. I'm going to head up your way the first part of Nov. for Pheasants. I think that will be a good time, can't hardly wait.

gspsonny03, have basically finding the same out this way, at least so far. We have gotten a few this year, but haven't seen nearly the birds as last year. Still wondering if the cold, wet spring and early summer has taken a toll. Haven't heard much yet on what the pheasant season will be like. At any rate, its great to be out.--tr

I hear you there, it sure beats sitting at home. We were up to Mott here about three weeks ago and although we didn't see the numbers we had hoped for, we still seen quite a few birds. More than we did in S.D. I realize the crops are still in and that would make a big difference in the number of birds one would see, but the number of dead birds laying on the road will also tell a story and there were very few dead birds in S.D.

Nulle how much snow did you get out of the storm? We got almost an inch of rain before the snow and 6" of snow on top of that, so everything is pretty mucky out where we hunt. We didn't go out to day, we thought we would take a day and rest up and hit it again tomorrow.
