I use my German dogs to hunt rabbit as well as upland and waterfowl.
Just think you could kill two birds with one stone or in this case a rabbit and a bird with one stone. HE HE

Ok I am not the funniest person.
I could set you up with a versatile shorthair to do all

i wish i could.

i wish i could make it out.
the last time I went to a hunt test was 10 years ago if not a bit longer. it was with the guys from kings kennel in northern ill.
they had some nice dogs back then.
I just lost my gsp last year. xitty car accident. he was a great dog. I hunted upland game birds, rabbit, ran him with my walker for coon. and bayed hogs with him. he was a hell of a gritty dog.
to see him on a hog was amazing. I think with more time under his collar he would put some catahula leopard dogs to shame.
but most of all he was a terrific pheasant dog. I will admit he lacked water sense.
the only reason I need beagles is because that's what my hunting buddy wants. these dogs are for him. I want one so we can run a pair together.
if you came up with a nice shorthair I might consider it.
6 months before my shorthair got killed I bought a lab. she is a nice dog but a bit soft for my likening. I was actually considering getting another pointer. but figured I would give her time to grow up first.
what's your e-mail or phone ???
I would like to talk more about your pointers if you have the time.
take care and thanks for the post.
Jon

I know the guys at King's Kennel. They are as close to family as you can get without being family. I have had a few dogs from them. They were all great. One was well on her way to a show champion. I am very active in the NADKC or German hunt testing club here in the USA. I test all my dogs. You can call me any time
Dave at 515-979-9624 or email at work is

I can not post my site on here due to rules but if you email me I will send you the link and you can check out the dogs.
Thanks

Jon,
Visit the ARHA website. (American Rabbit Hound Assoc.)
In there is a list of breeders that'll be close to you. Most folks in that organization are good folks...I caint say that any trial I've ever been in er to has never been alot of fun. Some of those fellas can get real serious about their dogs..sometimes too serious. I've seen alot of fine hounds come out of the woodwork thanks to that organization....dam...I sound like a spokesperson er sumthin...NO I aint...lol

thanks lillred

i'll check it out . unless the gsp guy cons me into a nice pointer.
but again i know my friend ike would be hard to sell on one.
a field trial bred english pointer ruined him for life.lol
if he see's a pointer in the field now he breaks out into a hives starts to shake. he even slurs his words. just plain looses it.
that dog he had needed a choper to fallow him in the field.

from the second he was let out of the dog box to how ever long it takes to load 2 shells, that was enough time to make it crear to the next county.
