headed up tommorrow too. ;)
tater were you gona be.
well be up fall creek above bear hole. my chevy is silver and blue with a matching camper shell. if you see us stop by. we may or may not be camped at the truck depends on the snow. its been snowing up there you know? just got back from sportmans got a water filter, some other odds and ends, camper shell goes on the truck here in few minutes our packs are packed and ready to camp in. im hopeing for 6"s of snow low on the mtn by thursday or atleast snow thats not melting off. if weve gots lots of snow were still going into our spot just not bringing the camp gear. rifles and empty packs to pack out meat. it should be a good hunt, we havent seen this weather this early in quite awhile. im lovn it. if were knee deep in snow at 8000 feet things will be lookin very good. good luck everyone Evan |

We were down on Burnt Creek Rd. I saw a bunch that got spooked by something but when we went after them they were gone. They were running flat out so something spooked em up good. After that we didn't see anything.

we were right above you. camped just below the lookout the first night. moved down to the lava mtn trail head the second night. then finaly got up the urge to pack into packer creek. saw lots of elk one 3 point buck. 3 bears and had wolfes howling around camp each night. very eiery. we got tired saterday and just went to camp just as we got a fire going a few does went strolling by. got back to the truck this evening and just now pulled up at the house. gona hunt somewhere else. i think the wolfs have the deer and elk going haywire. picked up a new 20 below sleeping bag and it worked wonders in the back country. much more comfortable than last year. or is that because it was freakn warm up this the last 4 days |

Yesterday, we hit a spot along the road below the dam about a mile before Cow Creek bridge. We only saw a few does and my buddy's son said he saw a little fork-horn. I'd hyperextended my ankle so I wasn't going to aggravate it going after some little forky so I headed back to my truck. We're going up again next Sunday but I'm not sure where. I guess there's always duck season if I don't get no deer.

go to the Y-Stop in praire keep going till you see the sign that has an arrow and says lava mtn trail head 2 miles pointing to the right.
the road will wind for 2 miles and come to the trail head. this is higher than were your hunting in burnt creek. theres lots of open ridges and lots of it was burned 10 years ago. some of the trees you can see through for miles. ive never carend to hunt lower in the burnt creek area just drove through. normaly on most weekends its crawling with hunters. this weekend seemed to not be as bad. gas prices drivn them back i guess but anyways the lava mtn trail is good place to try for a average 20" and bigger buck. i think the bucks will be prepping for the rut this comeing weekend so hopefully things will be alittle difrent. good luck Evan |

so am i
i can hunt country that no one hunts see things that no one sees and still not squeeze the trigger. its been a few years that ive takn a buck. and each year ive got more than one opurtunity. cant figure it out. im not trophy hunter but i do seem to be on that quest to find bigun. if the snow flies ill be back hunting the same spot this weeken. if not ill be to new spot ive just recently found out about. my last big buck was 26" wide 5 point real heavy and tall. the goal seems to be to top it. maybe i wont i dont know for sure.
