cast on/off adjustments

i have never ever done any adjusting on my shotguns, however tonight in the house i was putting my cordoba up to my shoulder quite a few times and i noticed that my shooting eye was lined up to the left of the rib a lot of the time. not straight down the pipe.

does this mean i should maybe adjust cast one way or the other, which way??? i am right=handed. do the adjustable shims that come with benellis do any good? the instructions seem to be a bit hard to understand for cast on off measurements. any input would be appreciated, thanks
jj

I think the cast on/off is taken into consideration by your handedness regarding the Benelli shims. I don't have my manuals here with me, but I think it says to use certain shims in a certain way if you are right handed.

Base on your description, you are right handed, you need to increase the amount of "cast off" by moving the stock to the right. If properly adjusted, the only thing you should see when the gun is in the firing position on your shoulder, is the bead. You should not see the front, rear, left or right of the rib, just the bead.

This article will probably be of some help:
