Polishing Kit...

Today I worked on polishing the brass on my M1853 Enfield; sling brass, trigger guard, butt plate, and forend and then the brass on the cartridge box, garrison belt and kepi. Tomorrow is November 11th and we are falling out to the Veterans' Memorial Park in Mansfield for the Veterans' Day Memorial. We will fire a 21 gun salute; three volleys by seven soldiers in the firing party commanded by Corporal Brasso.

How are other Longhunters remembering Veterans' Day?

Adam

We had a fine parade with 3 bands and the usual talks by local politicians at the Veterans' Memorial Park. I am still wondering what other Longhunters did on Veterans Day. Are we lacking Veterans?

I was in the cub scouts.....does that count?

Seriously, I wanted to join the Marines when I was 16 after my father passed away, but my mom wouldn't sign the papers; ended up going to college instead. One of the regrets in my life is that I did not do some form of military service, but it was post Vietnam and the military was looked at with much skepticism and as a place where loosers went because they couldn't do anything else.
However, I did berate my 22 year old neice for not voting in the elections.....I told her a lot of men died so that she might have that right, and that to waste it was not a good decision.
