federal lightning
found some old .22LR ammo my dad had. little 50 round boxes of federal lightning. i can't believe how accurate those are out of my 10/22. i think more so even than the CCI mini-mags i WAS shooting before

you are bringing back my childhood. i cant even begin to tell you the number of groundhogs and squirrels my brother and i put away with them things, out of our little marlin bolts i could consistently knock off .410 empties at 25 yds open sighted. well im sure the gun still could but i woke up one morning and realized i needed glasses, i cant do the open sighted stuff as well now-a-days

I still have a half of a case of lightnings, my 10/22 loves them. It loves Federal classics even more.

at the store,
two independent gun shops still have stock of them here in town, walmart for a while (still might be) was selling loose bulk ammo (550) in what was either lightning or a federal spittin image of it. something that i have found curious with such bulk ammo is sometimes it appears as a semi hp. like it had a hp and they filled it with lead, not all the way, but way more than a standard hp. any one see this? kt |

I've got a Marlin 880SQ that just loves those rounds. I'm still able to get em around my neck of the woods.

Yes, I have seen the semi-hp .22s you mention. The local K-Mart sells Winchester Dyna-Points and they are great in my Remington Model 581. They also sell Federal Lightnings, Winchester Wildcats or Remington Thunderbolts. All are good cheap shooting. All the best...
