Anybody Seen Anything Like This?

Visited a local shop the other day. Nobody has any idea who make this. Listed as made in New York. Had a patten day around 1871 I believe. There were no manufacture markings.

It is definately a 22 of some sort. Don't know if its a short, long or long rifle(believe this came into existance later but you never know). Its a break open action which is activated by the lever on the bottom. Interesting piece.

INteresting piece you found there.

I would almost be willing to bet that the barrel is/was from an older firearm, and the reciever and stock we built afterwards so that the barrel could be used.
