Another Hakim...
Ok, I do not NEED any more military surplus arms, but when I run across one with mint metal and bore, I got to bring it home. I found a nice Hakim for cheap money and it is now on establishment. I did lightly refinish the stock with pure boiled linseed oil after sanding out some dings.
At the bench, the Hakim likes my 150 grain handloads. I now trek over the farm with the hounds and Hakim in search of coyotes, mountain lions and whatever crosses our path. OK, collecting military surplus arms is fun and educational. On March 11 we have our annual BIG gun show in Morris, PA. I have a list of stuff I am looking for; bayonets, slings, parts, ammo and leather/web kit. And, maybe another Hakim, if the price is right. Adam

Hakim rifles
Sounds like you found a decent rifle at an attractive price. The last few Hakim rifles I saw for sale looked like they were dragged here from Egypt. All the best...

Nice find there Adam!
If you get a chance and it isn't a problem sometime, grab a box of the PMC 170gr softpoint 8mm mauser ammo and see what your Hakim's think of it. MIne shoots it pretty good, on the same gas port setting as for the surplus yugo (don't remember offhand what click it is right now) I agree Gil, last few i've seen were definately not in "showroom" condition, but then again i've seen them look like they've been used as tent stakes, and still perform quite well. hardy beasties they are. |
