loading you own rimfire
I`ve loaded about everything except rimfire ammo so awhile back when I found some primed rimfire cases I bought them. I`m going to try some .22 pellets and a small amount of Bullseye in some and my also try some 55 gn. cast bulletsin others, Has anyone ever loaded rimfire ammo and what results did you get? I don`t see loading all my rimfire ammo, but just thought it would be fun to play with. Any pointers appreicated.

Here's a pointer: don't.
Assuming you could cobble up some dies and a shellholder, the biggest danger comes when you try to crimp the bullets in. The downward pressure of the crimping shoulder can crush the thin rim. If that happens, you just might have a round go off right there in the seater die. And that would not be a fun way to cap (pun intended) your afternoon.

Based on the current cost of .22 cal RF ammo........I would rather paint a bridge with a toothbrush.

The only way i could see someone actually reloading rimfires, was if they were doing .44henry or similar cartridges for authentcity reasons.
if that were the case, there's equipment and good info to be had by those who associate with it. as for .22 LR, or .22mag, fo rthe price there is no reason to do it, and when you tie into that the saftey issue, it's really not worth it for sure. |

Well I appreciate your advice, but there are some thing a man just has to do and can not explain why. I`m not planning on crimping in the bullet and anything I load will be subsonic, unless I get a wild hair. I thinking load them up like floborts or CB`s, something I can shoot inside without muffs.

You DO know that you cannot seat a standard .224" bullet in a rimfire case don't you? Because it takes a special heeled bullet.

Yes, what rocky says. If you must do this i would suggest you pull a 22lr bullet and see how it`s made, and seated. Does`nt agulia or some company make a round thats powered by the primer only?
