Talking I also got the good news!!

My daughter told me a couple of days ago that that she will have my first ( hopefully not last ) grandchild somewhere around the end of March. This was sort of a surprise due to the fact she was in the hospital the week before with kidney stones and they said her pregnancy test was negative. She has only been married a couple of months now but doctors told her that with her medical problems ( back and other problems ) she should have kids young or she may not be able to have them at all. So she and her husband decided they would start now. Funny thing is I don’t feel old.

The thing I am most looking forward to is when they are old enough to go fishing. Of the hunting, shooting and fishing I did with my daughter, fishing was the best.

My wife is already buying baby things for us to have at our house. She said she will pay them to go out for the evening as long as we get to keep the baby. I don’t know if I can afford grandchildren, may have to get a second job.

Allen

Congratulations Allen. I would tend to agree that fishing is probably the best out of hunting, shooting and fishing for developing relationships because most of the time you are right next to the other person. Dove hunting with my dad meant that we stood in different areas, but pheasant hunting was pretty good. Fishing sucked when we were younger because my dad sucked at it, and he didn't really like to do it. Now that we have a boat and I know how to put fish in the boat, he cannot stop asking me when we will be going fishing again. Of course, he continues to ask about hunting and shooting too. About the only thing he asks more often than when we are going to go hunting, fishing, or shooting, is when my wife and I are going to give him a grandchild. He doesn't have any yet and I think he really wants one.

Now, I do prefer hunting over fishing, and probably fishing and hunting over shooting, but I'll take whichever one I can get. Any day doing one of the three is better than working.

There's nothing like grandchildren, I only have one now, she will be 2 years old in September, but the little things they do will melt your heart. We mostly meet at my mothers house on Sunday for Sunday dinner, this past Sunday I was just getting back from a weekend scouting trip for bow season, I was a little late, she,"Termite", my nickname for Haylee, met me at the door, when I bent down to give her a kiss, she put both arms around my neck and hugged me for a few moments, and then patted me on the back with her little hand like she had missed me, I had sure missed her. Little things like that gives you beautiful feelings that are hard to put into words, but they do make you feel younger.
Grandchildren are GREAAAAAAT !

Hey Fabs, did you know that there's another "...ing" word that results in kids?

Sheesh, man, all that working, hunting, fishing, shooting is great, but...

Congrats, Allen. I really DO know just how you feel. My wife isn't buying things yet, but she does walk around mumbling things like, "Can't have that ratty old carpet when the baby comes..." So I suppose it's a genetic thing.

I've got 6 of them and its awesome. Just this last weekend took the old one(13) fishing. And as luck has it, he outfished me. This kid really likes to fish. Likes going with me. I think thats because Papa buy shinners, worms, coffee, donuts and soda. Plus we know some really good spots that he can't reach on his bike.

This kid fishes about 5 days a week on the Charles river and really has developed as a fisherman.

His brother who is 6 is starting to really like it also. Took him to a seceret spot. He caught about 15 or 20 Sun Fish, Small bass and Crappy's. Was so excited it was worth every minute of it.

My 5 year old granddaughter has gone a few times but its too early to tell about her. I suspect she will like it cause her older cousins do.

The rest of them are too small yet.

Rocky, I know about the other "ing" word that results in kids, but I try not talk about that stuff on the board. Plus, I also know about planned parenthood. Since buying this townhouse, remodeling it, planning a wedding, paying for it all, etc., my life has been kind of crazy. Now, all that stuff is done, everything is paid for, all our cars are paid for, and the only debt we have is our mortgage which is about 1/3 of my wife's salary. So, life is getting back to normal. Normal enough that I might be able to handle having a kid since I work from home and would be the one having to take care of it while the wife works.

Thanks for the pics Rocky. My daughter has one of those but it is so early in the pregnancy that it does not look like anything yet. Will post them as I get them.

Thanks to all.
Allen
