Who does not "Leave home without it?"

This post is for CCW folks with the exception of Vermont where anyone can carry CCW "so long as they do not do so with criminal intent." You just got to love Vermont, as I do.

I have had a CCW permit all my life. Last week a neighbor came by and we chatted on the front porch. I asked him about CCW and he said, "Yep. I carry." I asked to see his carry arm and he went to his truck. Whoa! If it is in the truck and he needed it here, how does that wash?

I understand folks can choose not to carry on a certain day or for several days on end, whatever. I think a right not exercised is no right at all. I do not advertise the fact I carry a lot, but I do not hide the fact either. For 26 years, I put on my holstered arm and went off to work. No big deal, it was like having a pen in my shirt pocket or a hankerchief in my hind pocket, I had them on board.

I think it is better to have it and not need it than the other way around. I think it is best to "cover" the CCW arm since open carry tends to frighten the public and tips off the bad guys.

wish i could say i carry every day, but if i see a situation ahead where it would have to be let in the car (like at work) it stays home,
vermont does kick butt, i saw a thing recently that people up there are excersing a right to walk around nude in public. sounds like a bizarre place to live

CCW/naked???

You're right that would be bizarre... where to hide it... a definate advantage to women... opps, maybe a bit too much info there.

I get to live in Texas... pretty good, and okay, but, lots of rules to comply with. I "almost" always carry, at least a double action derringer in my hip pocket, but, more likely a Glock 21 in 45 acp or a Model 1911 also a 45. I'm left handed so the bigger guns always go in a shoulder holster where I can get 'em with the left paw... I also ride a motorcycle much more than drive my truck or car. With my right hand busy with the throttle on the bike its only natural to use the left hand on the gun.

I've actually practiced (very controlled conditions) using the gun left handed on a moving bike... the bad guys are likely to escape unscathed, but, darn sure impressed. Out of about 20 three shot attempts only three hits were scored on a 24"x24" target. The 4'x8' plywood backing was literally peppered, so like I say, maybe not hit, but, certainly impressed... and all I want to do on a bike is slow the baddies down so I get away with my hide intact... and I can do that very quickly. Several of us intend to resume practice to see if we can improve.

I would feel nude ifn I wasnt packin....

I posted this in another thread recently, but I normally carry a 45ACP or a 44SPL. Sometimes its just not possible due to certain situations or dress. Those times I have a Bobcat 22lr. Better than nothing and it can go anywhere.

I was in Mexico in April. I felt naked and scared while there. Lots of seedy lookin folks staring at us at what seemed like all times. I just didnt feel right and couldnt wait to get my kids back across that border. I may go to a southern resort sometime, but I dont think I will go back to a border town again. Pretty wild lookin and I cant pack. Makes me feel helpless.

I had to stop and and think a moment. I find that I have 19 handguns that I feel are suitable for CCW. They range from .38 Special belly guns to .45 Colt N Frame Smiths. I can choose between small 9mm semiautos, as well as full size 1911 .45 ACP guns.

As the seasons change, what I wear on a daily basis changes as well. In the winter, it is often a large revolver or Semi auto worn OWB, with a jacket over it.
In warmer weather. it can be a smaller Semi Auto, such as a CZ compact worn IWB with a shirt over it. Good leather, both holster and belt are very important.

Regardless of the season though, I will be adequately armed.

Try to wear whenever I can.

Went out for Easter brunch yesterday and didn't have a suitable jacket, so I went without - to the mall where we had the mass shooting just recently. Felt both weird and stupid for that, but it all worked out OK.

Always have my truck gun, of course, but as pointed out, it's locked in THERE and I'm out HERE...

Today, I have a little float tube in my front yard with a For Sale sign on it. Can never tell what kind of yahoo might ring the bell, using that thing as an excuse to get inside my house. So the Bulldog .44 is on under a shirt-jac, ready to give a Silvertip Surprise.

Only problem I will have is that while I can pack in on me to and from work. I cannot actually have it AT work (NonLEO employee of a police department) I have to leave it in the truck. Oh well.

Speaking of thich anybody know a source for the lockable drawers with the push buttons you can mount under your seat for such a task?

Thanks

Not to sure if you'd have the right to sue. In Michigan it is against the law to allow your concealed weapon to be seen. So right off the bat, you've lost your permit. A
On top of that, I see nothing funny about playing around or advertising my weapon.
