Tatoos & Stuff

I have nothing agenst tatoos, really, but my-oh-my people are way over doing it. Here is one of my womnders:

"How do the people who get the oriental symbols really know what it says.?" I suspect it is Japanese (or maybe Chinese) for, "Another anglo dumb-a_ _." So they can spot us while shopping in the asian owned shops, they have kids to put through school too.

The next wonder: "Why do young girls tatoo their, necks, throats or close to the cleveage, their boyfriends and/or husbands name?" Unless they are prepared to add later "Was a jerk" I do not get it. It is unfortunate, but people fall out of love, and may not last forever, LIKE HIS NAME TATOOED ON HER BODY.

Here on the post where I work, all the guys from Fort Lewis, have star tatoos on their arms, in different places, but all the same exact design. And you can't see bare skin on either arm!

I would guess 49% have the quasi-old english lettering down the arm.

But what about the piercings? A girl at work has a tounge stud, eyebrow rings, lower lip ring, and something on the flap of skin between her two fronth teeth, and one in her cheek..............WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT?

I have a tatoo..........kinda. The senerio: 23 YEARS AGO Jon is 19 years old, because it was my birthday I asked my E-7 for the next day off to assure my potential hang over wont get me in trouble with the army command structure.
My girlfriend takes me to Siegen (by Giessen) to whoop it up. Jon gets a gift from some honest to-god Greeks in the form of two bottles of ouzo.

Jon, who was still learning German, missssss-understood what they were saying. They said DO NOT DRINK IT ALL AT ONCE. Jon thought they said I MUST (I thought it was a Greek thing), so I did.

Hours later, I sober up, and find myself sitting in a tatooist chair, thinking, "This is no longer a good idea!" And simply said to stop. I let him finish the outline, but to this day, whan I am not sure about an idea or situation I just look at the tatoo outline and say.."Nah!"

I really think some others should go NAH!

Boy Jon, I must say you have a way with words and how to express yourself -- and I agree with a lot of what you got there!!

Let me know which Post you're on so I can avoid it

And my last comment, man you are one lucky dude to drink 2 ea bottles of Ouzo and all you did was wake up in a strange chair -- or did I miss something in between there? I mean, 2 bottles would have most average type guys or gals punching out mirrors because they didn't like the looks of their new buddy . . . don't laugh, I saw it happen, in Turkey it's called Raki. Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Hey jon,
I too share the bewilderment of todays "cool" & "Independent" minded in-duh-viduals wanting to get a "tat" or "Piercing" so that they can show the world their "In-duh-viduality" by getting the same type of thing that everyone else is getting...to show their Own "In-duh-viduality".

I can see wanting to commemorate something/someone/some time special in your life.....but the Barb-wire/tribal tattoos around the arm, the "Ho" tat on the small of the back, the "Oriental" symbols, the Flames/skulls/dragons/tigers on 97lb skinny guys, the neck tats on just about anyone, The pierced ANYTHING! other than a simple ear ring (In the ear) on anyone, especially GUYS, and 99.9% of the rest of the "Hip/New" stuff that people go for today.. Just tells me that you don't have a clue as to Who you are.

Dom.........from 1980 until about 1997, I was a super "Happy!" drunk, never got mad or started fights, I was "Fun Jon!" and was also a bottomless pit for booze. And I am at Vilseck.

Is my way with words good or bad?

A tattoo or two on a guy to me is ok..but should be none on a woman. Earrings on a girl..ok..on a guy, na..my cousins took such a beating from me and the earring thing, they now won't wear one...Any tattoo should be able to be hidden under a shirt if wanted...The little humming bird on the chest of a woman will someday become a crane but she don't know that now..kind of like that silky bra she wears now, later she will need to sew socks into them....The tats on a guys calf or on a woman looks like they have a mole or something from a distance and I'm sure the eagle I have on my arm will someday look like an old crow...I guess it is a sign of the times like the long hair, bell bottoms we were in style with in our day..However, I can't see how the heck they can walk with the crotch of the pants down to the knees...I see a commercial on tv that I know the guy at one time was into the pants thing because I can tell by the way he walks in his suit he was use to walking in the 'baggies'...so how can this generation work with one hand holding up the pants?..I see that already, they don't...I asked my nephew some questions about these things..first I think it comes from a low self esteem..unhappy and into self inflicted pain..one reason he don't like anything when at the dentist..a show of revolution in their times...like the peace symbol of days gone past..They just don't know when they show up as a senator or some executive or car salesman with the neck tattoo, people will have a hard time believing what they say...but??? who am I to judge. I'm sure they will grow out of it...I did end up with a haircut.....Hey, we need to start a clothing store called 'WB'....sell pants that fit like their suppose to...I have a hard time buying jeans anymore that aren't made to wear the crotch to the knees...and have an extra 2 feet of legs...or a shirt that fits under the arms and hang to the knees..Just uncomfortable to me.
