I'd say that if you're interested in bringing managing these things in areas that they have become a pest please add to this request... Before they get wise to this anyways...

I strongly support your proposal to give states a license to kill wolves in areas where big game populations are below targeted levels.

I am especially pleased that your proposal would empower states to begin managing wolves even though they still are on the endangered species list.

Wolves once thrived in much of the lower 48 states. Today, they reside in only 5 percent of their former range but because of limited habitat, are becoming a nuisance to many.

I urge you not to decimate a wolf population that has only recently sprung back to life and is world-renowned as a symbol of the American West, but to manage them responsibly.

Our "threatened" wolf population now numbers 2,500. With each wold consuming an average of 14 deer/yr they are making a significant impact on the deer population is some of our areas. Itaska Park, and sorrounding area, long a deer hunters paradise, was basically a bust this yr. Many didn' even see a deer.
It's time to manage this resource as well.

yes i have been catching bits of this news, quite sad indeed after the effort put in to get them back in so many areas

We definitely have waaayyyy too many wolves in our area. Grizzlies too! Time to delist them and make a game species out of them.
By the way..Might be a good idea to list this in AAG. Can we get it moved Adam??

Here in my area we've got a few wolves. But thats not the problem. The problem is that the wolves aren't scared of humans.
A guy I know, not too far from where I live, saw a wolf not 15 yards from his house. He grabbed his .270 and ran outside. The wolf was hardly afraid of him, instead, it just trotted off. He didn't shoot because there were houses in the background. The wolf had been creeping up on his 4 year old son, who was jumping on a trampoline at the time. I say delist the wolf before someone gets hurt!!!

Minnesota has but it won't take effect for 5 years. Some folks hereabouts aren't waiting that long it seems.

The enviros will not let the wolf be delisted at this time. They lied about the numbers they wanted and now that those numbers have been reached they aren't quite happy. There are 14 enviro groups who will file suit within minutes of the wolf being delisted on March 28. They will keep delisting tied up in court for at least two years.

They are taking a big gamble. If the wolves are too troublesome (and that is why they were hunted and trapped out originally), the people that have to live with their devastation will take matters in their own hands. If the wolves take too large a percentage of wildlife, game wardens will develop vision problems when it comes to seeing wolves being shot. The backlash will be obvious.
