I wish my wife were bugging me to get a trap thrower. That would be the day. LOL

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I don't own any throwers yet.

They make hand throwers that are cheap, but you'll need somebody to sling them. They are fun with a group of guys, we'd line up about four of us in front of two throwers, and they sling them at will so it's a free for all for the shooters.

As far as machines, there's a wide variety but I haven't had the urge to spend that kinda money throwing clay, just go to the range, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Anything by Trius is worthwhile. See link:

http://www.lymanproducts.com/TriusTraps/Triushome.htm

The Birdshooter is inexpensive and fairly durable, but as Dom said, you need someone to pull for you. The One Step solves that problem by the user stepping on a pedal to release the target, but the user still has to load every shot. There are some really cool trap machines that do it all for you, but for what you will pay, you might as well just go to a skeet/trap club. (And if you do that, there's no cleanup!)

BTW, I have come to find that claytargetsonline is not very complete or accurate. There are four (4) other skeet/trap clubs in northeast Ohio well withing driving distance from my home that are not shown on claytargetsonline, and of those listed, the contact information is not always up-to-date. It's best just to go to an advertised organized shoot somewhere and talk to people, find out where places are, and go from there. The skeet club I go to most often is public and doesn't advertise anywhere. All of their participants are there from word of mouth.

Good luck.

Hey fella,
You are just across the border from MS. There is a clays range north of Tupelo, Whitetail Ridge. I am going up to see the outlaws for Turkey day and plan to stop by to see the guys at Whitetail.
Where bouts in FL did you move from?

Oh, on the thrower, in the meantime, one of those plastic throwers with a broom handle attached (hose clamps) will sling clays like no tomorrow. Otherwise, check with some ranges see if they have some old traps that you can buy for cheap. You might have some repairs or parts but the price might be right also. Get a trailer or PU and load her up.

They actually make a plastic extension for those orange plastic throwers. I have one and it works really well. Haven't bought an expensive trap because I don't have a place where I can shoot clays consistently.

I moved from New Port Richey and belonged to the Hernando Sportsman Club which was in the middle of the Chassahowitzka WMA. which on the coast was 34,000 acres with 30,000 of it swamp. One road in needless to say it was hard hunting.
