LOL, my big game is over for the year. At Christmas, guess the kids n dad will simply go over to the range and punch paper.
Just enjoy the family being together.
Have fun and good hunting!
Dan

no BIG plans

just ran to the place "up north" yesterday to do some winterizing before it was too late. Pulled in the driveway and had a longbeard fly outta the big tree overhead and fly off. Drove back home today to get the leaves raked etc before the deer opener.

Saw a lot of deer (mostly does) on the way up plus about 50 turkeys yarded up (my tag is for 10/08/07 - 11/14/07 ) so maybe I'll have to do some dual scouting/birding next week.

Found out the hard way last year that the state land around me is FULL of local yahoos so the actual deer season is a longshot for me. I'm just trying to tag one to make into jery for the troops again this year. Plan to take my chances and look for a new spot this year that doesnt have an orange coat behind every tree. Yeah, I know.....good luck on that

happy and safe hunting to all

I hope everyone has great success this year. For me, I'll be lucky if I even get out. I can't do the bow or rifle becuase of my shoulder, and God knows how I'd drag one out if I got lucky.
Maybe opening weekend I'll take my son out and see what happens with the pistol.
I'll guarntee you I'm going nuts not hunting, and not a pleasant person at home

I am off to the U.P. later this morning. I shot a few deer this summer with AG damage tags so I'm not hard up for a deer. I have a few younger MI relatives I plan to help out. I have most of my gear packed up & just have to break the news to our 4 yr old. He has been my outdoor partner this fall & assumes he goes whenever the guns are in the truck. I'll be in the Northern U.P. & there is only a slight chance of snow in the next few days. As usual I'll be out all day no matter the weather. I hope I sleep better tonight than last. Good luck to all.

I told him there are more and bigger deer he is happy now.
I still have a doe permit and two buck tags but am holding out for a buck we are seeing more bucks then we have in years.
We are also seeing bucks chaseing does alot.
I passed on a couple small deer while bow hunting one was a gift deer but i was injoying myself watching the little guy.
I am also fighting a cold and have a doc apoint for monday.

I'm back from my U.P. hunt. I passed on 2 4 ptr's on different days. I already have 1 in the freezer & didn't feel the need. I helped the nephew out some getting set up. One in our group took a 6 ptr on day 3. We were hunting way back in 'the big woods' & it was the longest drag we ever did. Our ATV was well over an hour away so the 3 of us relayed to get it out to the truck. There were plenty of wolf tracks at this spot & I'm sure they enjoyed the gut pile. I plan to have my older son along for a M-L hunt at a honey-hole. I'll go for action on that hunt.

we are back my son passed on a couple yearlings he told me there will be more and he was right he seen a nice doe he was getting ready to shoot and it busted him and he didnt feal good at trying to shoot a deer when it was running.
He also had a shot at a nice doe but she was faceing him and he didnt like the shot and passed.
My other son will be going out next weekend he has not killed a deer this year so i dont know if he will be as kind to the yearlings.

I plan on getting out for Muzzy season. The doctor cleared me Monday to shoot a rifle finally. He said it won't damage the shoulder, but it WILL hurt like Heck!
Told him I'll only be firing it if I see a deer, and then I won't feel it anyways.
Can't wait

Thanks Wrenchman... don't care about the size, I just want some meat in the freezer.

You actually got me thinking earlier, so I went and grabbed my bow. It was a little bit of a struggle, but I go it back. Holding it wasn't a problem. So off to the woods I went
Never saw anything, and it was pouring down rain, but it felt good to be out there.
Good luck to everyone still hunting.
