Found out how to scare coyotes.

Starting last Tuesday Gene and I have scared alot of coyotes. Last Tue. I ran the grain cart for the renters while they were shelling corn, and Gene set where ever he thought he could see the coyotes run out. We saw 6 of them between the 2 of us and I knocked 1 out of the 2 I got shots at down. He was carring a rabbit when he went down but not when he got up. I had abt. 10 rounds in the clip of the AR, but did not get another hit on him. Gene watched him go into a woods abt. 3/4 of a mile away and said he was hardly going. Wensday their regulare operator was back so Gene and I both sat around the fields. We saw 7 that day and Gene did manage to keep one down with his ranch rifle. I did shoot at 1 Gene had missed, and put into high gear at a distance of abt. 450 yrds. Thursday we didn`t see any, but Friday was better. Fri. we saw 5 more. We didn`t get any , but gene shot a rabbit through the ear that was in a coyotes mouth. The coyote dropped that rabbit. Saterday was another no dog day, but seeing 18 in 5 day was still alot of fun. It was a real learnig experance. I think Gene said it best, " It`s alot easier to hit them a 500 yrds. in a wind if they are standing still than it is to hit them a 150 yrds. if they are running. " I know that every time you shoot at and miss a coyote you teach him something, but hopefully what we thought these was to stay away from farm equipment. Seems as though they have learned that around farm equipment there is always an easy meal.
