Holy Jeezuss
6 of us from another net went to the Denver show.......not surprised at the junk......a lot of AR15's n AK's went out the door
along with pistols. Ammo prices were unbelievable...loading stiff too! $28 for large rifle primers/plenty of Black Talons at $50 a box. I walked away from a $1600 Garand....AR's were going from $750 to $2200..........yet. folks was buyin em!!!!Man, I'm afraid it's gonna get a LOT worse! M1 carbines for $700 up.....most of them were something that a Ethiopian would reject! Pre 64 M70's from $800 to $1100....most of pistols were Taurus n Rugers....my ole Smith 28...saw a guy pay $485 for one in worse shape than mine! Haven't been to a show in a few years....guess this is common now. Dan

Dan, in the last few years all the nice wood stocked guns and revolvers have vanished and most dealers are selling junk that the 20 year olds will buy... they have found its easier to sell 10 junkers to them than to rip off one of us knowlegeable old farts on one deal.... yea its pathetic... but their is a bright side, sooner or later, all the jerks are going be glutted up on stuff..and will stop buying and when that happens all the dealers will be left sitting on huge inventories they suddenly cant move and the price will drop like a hot rock... im looking for that point to hit somewhere about next march....

but dont look for the ammo crunch to ease for a while, the u.s. govt is responsible for it..having placed a 5 billion round order of 223 , 9mm, 45, 308 and 50bmg with the Lake city arsenel.... they say it will take 5 years to get out from under that order...
look to other sources...best as one can |

Being the eternal pessemist it wouldn't suprise me if Uncle is somehow resposible for the shortage of ammo plus the hording thats going on. If Uncle has it, we can and what good is a gun other than a club.

I was lucky enough to stock up on most items before the election. My wife however purchased me a 50BMG Bohica upper for my Bushmaster AR-15. I really enjoy shooting it but the price of bullets alone is crazy. I did however find a deal a couple of days ago on 600, 647 grain API bullets for $175 shipped in a 20mm ammo can. Compared to the cost of Hornady A-Max that are selling for over $40 for 20 bullets I think I did pretty good.

I think we helped in the ammo mess with running out and buying more ammo then the Mexican army could shoot in a year. Lay off the panic buying and you will see the shelves full and the prices drop.

The shelves are full now. Even primers. The panic is over for now. Wait till they try to ban "assult weapons".

Things are starting to come back around here and the prices are starting to go back down alittle. I bought a RR lower with a match trigger at a gun store for $ 300 awhile back. I might have done alittle better, but was so schocked at the price I said I`ll take it befor I thought.
