Ammunition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Warning!!
Ammunition Accountability Legislation It has already started... Ammunition Accountability Legislation Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo! The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be en coded by the manufacture a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.. Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun! This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington. Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!! To find more about t he anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to: http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm |

Rabid Rich,
Interesting Post! Ammunition Accountability Legislation. What is it supposed to do? In the one or two states with Mandatory Ballistic Profiling keeping a fired round from every firearm sold has YET to be helpful in solving the FIRST crime. Today, I heard on the news the FBI reported a big reduction in firearms murders in the U.S. SO, why is there a NEED for Ammunition Accountability? As an old (retired) federal agent, I can tell you gun registration NEVER solved any of my cases in 26 years of law enforcement. Hum, Let's see, MAYBE that was because bad guys do not register guns (or ammo). Therefore, WHO is this legislation aimed at? When they come for your guns, give them the ammo first. Adam

Just read the PA bill which was established Feb 5, 2008. That's almost a year ago. I don't think Obama had anything to do with this particular bill.
Not that this bill isn't concerning to me, but I don't see the link between it and the President Elect ![]() Become a member of the US Sportsman's Alliance and NRA to help with these matters.

This bill came up in Maryland in 2007 or early 2008. It ended up being defeated, and pretty quickly. I think the General Assembly decided to nix it once they found out what it would cost to have the ammo imprinted and that the cost would have to be passed on to the buyer.
What I find to be the best way to follow anti-gun bills within specific states is to review the NRA Bullet Points e-mails. They always show me what is pending in Maryland. For several years, an assault weapons bill was in the legislature in Maryland, but after it was defeated 3 or 4 years in a row, they have stopped trying to introduce the bill anymore. I am hoping that Congress will be smart about this too.

By the way, I don't want to imply that we shouldn't be on our toes about gun control bills in the near future, I just don't think ammo registration is a good idea. What happens if I give some ammo to a friend at the range, or I throw some of my shells to a buddy in a layout blind next to me in the goose field? We would all have to worry about where our cheap ammo is going. Then, what happens to reloaders? Would reloaders end up being screwed?
At the end of the day, we need to keep our eyes open for whatever they throw our way.

I had occasion to look up the legislation in some of the states listed in the email...
Long dead in Arizona. In Alabama, the bill was dead as of last April. In New Jersey, referred to committee last May 5. No further action. In California, no such bill in process. In Maryland, it died last March as a result of an unfavorable committee recommendation, and a strong showing by opponents at a public hearing. That's not all the states listed, but it's all I have time to check. I'm not seeing any great groundswell of legislative support, even in very anti-gun places. |

Saw this one somewhere else, also.
I posted the below on Benchrest Central when I first read about this one, the thread over there is continuing also:
"I'll give up all of my ammunition to anyone that thinks they really want it. If I've got ammo that is not registered by their new tracking bill's the only way that these people will get it is one bullet at a time, when they come on down and try to take it. I don't care what they think they can do by passing laws. If there is a law that is passed the deprives me of the ability to protect my family and my property from the bad guys and a rouge government, it is not legal as for as I'm concerned. The constitution made allowances to keep the government or certain people in the government from taking our abillity to protect our selves. They can always go to hell." Try the following link for more information about some of this. http://benchrest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58147 Looks like some of this is already being stopped by the right people. Bulletpusher
