Trouble Hendling This

Wife and myself were out at a Denny's tonight when a ex employee came across the room and announced in a loud voice
"Folks...I want to thank this guy for saving my life"!....I hadn't seen this guy for a couple of years. Last time was a med emergency... I stabilized and called transport for him.....BP was 53/31...., I didn't do anything...just reacted.
We'll call him 'John"....was called to the warehouse and 'John' was on floor....ashen...very slow pulse...sweating profusely....pulse was practically non existent....wanted to go home....I covered and stabilized ...best I could...had Paramedics on my cell....they transported to hospital.Held wrist and talked to him while waiting for troops.EMT's already had paddles out...expecting him to code blue! I told him firmly that "this time dude...you are going to ER".
Come to find out, 'John' had a heavy meth problem and it finally caught up with him. Tonight...he looked great and swears he has straightened his life out.
My problem....I have never had anyone EVER express thanks to me......guess I do not know how to accept gratitude....

Just different...couldn't do or say anything....just kinda clouded up!
Dan

You should be PROUD of yourself. Nothing wrong with that.

Saving someones life is top shelf.

Good for you!

Best wishes, Bill

Over the years, I've been involved in a number of situations....
guess what I'm tryin to say is I prefer to stay lower profile! Ya get involved because you choose to......not run away.

Dan,

Well Done!

It is ok to be humble so long as you did what you had to do.

sometimes you just have to accept that when folks say thanks, they mean it.

Congratulations Dan, you're a good man and just take looking out for someone and staying cool enough to do it effectively for granted.

I'm kinda low profile myself. Didn't even go to my college graduation. Just say thanks and thats it.

Got put on the spot with a couple of not so important medals in the Navy. Would have rather had them mailed to me. Not one for a lot of show.

Congrats and Well done !

I know what you mean about not enjoying the spotlight. I was recently surprised at our Ski Patrol annual meeting with a National Ski Patrol Purple Merit Star award (for a CPR "incident" I was involved with in Florida).

I took a lot of !@$^ because I just couldnt get up on stage to accept it in front of 125 people. So they just handed it to me....not like I'm going to sew the thing on my jacket !!

kudos Dan
