I Tought They Would Have Migrated
17 degrees and I've got two Eurasian Collared Doves cooing in the Aspen
in the back yard!!!!Man, I would have thought they would have gone south with the Mourning Doves...as they are new to Colorado, guess I've got a lot to learn about them. Dan

I wonder if thats not the species that has showed up in South Dakota the last few years. If so they will stay all winter. Can you get a pic. of them for me ?

Collared Doves
Talked with a biologist for the state and they consider 'em pests here and are trying to find a way to eradicate them. I was trying to help 'em along by shooting them as they came off the ridge behind the house.

I looked it up and thats the bird we have in Western South Dakota. I first noticed them with being just a few pairs about 5 years back. Now there are more and more and the mainly are staying in the cities and towns.

When the cool snaps push the mourning dove south, I've put the scatter gun up....as these stay around, guess I can get a couple more trips in! In Co,
they count in the aggregate. Dan

Might be rather interesting what the Game and Fish Depts. list them. Would they be game birds with the doves, song birds subject to protecting or pests like pigeons ?
If they can make money on them I am sure they will be a season. They are non-migratory so we might be able to hunt them all year.

I believe I saw a couple of those this week. Is it possible they have a foothold this far East. They looked like a regual dove but were tan. I thought it strange but figured the liberals had something to do with it.
