magnum small pistol primers vs standard

With the shortage of primers currently going on, I was wondering if one could use magnum small pistol primers in place of standard small pistol primers? Would you have to decrease your powder charge (the loads are .38 special and 9mm....neither is near max)?
Thanks in advance.

yes you can substitute mag primers for regular, BUT...drop your loads down to the bottem of the chart and work backup if you do so.

also remember that mag primers were deusgned to wirk with large grain slow burning powders. faster burning powders will be more sensitive to the difference.
