First moose

While it is a cow moose, it is still my first ever moose. One shot with the .308 my father-in-law used to use (pre-'68 rem pump) from 170yrds put her down. My hunting buddy also took the calf at the same time. Then the work began!

Congratulations! I've never hunted / shot a moose. That meat should last you a while!

it was a blast. it wasn't the bulls that we wanted (my hunting partners dad & brother took those) but it was our first moose each. We still have to cut & wrap them.. that is looking to be this weekend... as the weather is supposed to warm up... the $0.80/lb for cutting and wrapping is just a little too much right now.

IMHO, moose is THE best tasting wild game meat there is.....bar none! Congrats on a fine hunt, and you're right: the fun begins AFTER the moose is down!
