Need help in Oklahoma for deer & hogs.

I seem to have no "connections" in Oklahoma for deer and hogs this year. Every person I ask understandably wants to keep it in the family. I use a .30-06 and now a 12ga slug gun, but will be reduced to using public land, and am not too optimistic about the up coming season.

Can anyone give me tips for south eastern Oklahoma? I live near McAlester.

Thanks, Jon

Jon,

Isn't CRP land open to the public. I believe that in Kansas the have walk in area's that are on CRP land that is open to the public. Would think that OK has something similar. Don't give up hope, just keep asking.

you know the nice thing about public land is you can hunt were you want just get there first.
I have hunted state land for years and would not think twice about it again.
Do your scouting and dont get discouraged you might see lots of hunter the first few days but they go home.
The other thing about state land is you tend to have more options to you if you think it is to crouded you can move.
