Anybody Ever Seen One?
In all my 40-plus years of deer hunting I have seen a probably a dozen or more albinos and maybe a couple of piedbalds, but I have never, ever seen one of these before.
![]() I have never even seen a picture of one. This is definitely a whitetail fawn, as a couple of other pictures (which I didn't post) show its mother and twin and both of them look like normal whitetails, at least insofar as their markings. I have always been given to understand that the melanistic phase is very rare, even more so than the albino phase. Maybe one of you biologist types out there can provide us with a little more information? ![]() |

There are countless black squirrels in Detroit Metro Area. Is this fawn from SE Michigan, too?
My cousin killed a piebald buck in Van Wert County, Ohio. Looks sort of like a Holstein deer. You could call it white with brown splotches or brown with white splotches. An amazing animal. I'm convinced that Almighty God has a sense of humor. TR |
