.22 pistols/revolvers?

I've had the misfortune of only owning ONE .22 rimfire handgun....a standard model Ruger MkII that I modified slightly by putting wood grips and Millet target sights on it. The gun fits nicely in an old Walther P-38 holster (copy). I remember when I first became interested in firearms, there were a LOT of choices out there: H & R, Ruger, Colt, High Standard, ect. Doesn't seem to be the variety out there today that there use to be.

Anyway, whaddayagot? I always liked the look of the Colt Woodsman, and the S&W line was nice as well. Always wanted (but never got) the Ruger Single Six combo with the two cylinders; one for .22LR and the other for .22 magnum.

Ahhh, You mentioned about the Ruger Single Six, ugh, I made the mistake of selling mine almost 2 years ago. I still kick myself (so does the wife) for selling the gun. It was 5.5" barrel, stainless, 6 shot with both cylinders.

Single six...Have two both 5 1/2 inch blue..but one is in pieces and has been since I got it 20 or so years ago. Have the parts to fix it but...The other one I just acquired. Colt Match Targets are nice..but the S&W 41 seems to shoot better...well for me. My best has been an ol High Standard tournament military..Shoots bettern me which ain't hard. Had Brownings..but never again..Ruger semi autos..but not now they just don't feel good to me. Just got that old Ruger Bearcat but momma took it. The S&W K-22 is a good shooter. Think I will keep it. Gonna sell the old High Standard..Even have the box for it. Never shoot it any more. I really like 22 handguns and 38/357s 41s 44s 45 autos and 45 Colts..did I miss any other good ones?? Nah

I have a Ruger Mark I and Ruger Mark II in the semi role and two SA revolvers; a 5-inch and a 9-inch. The revolvers are late 1960s European Colt copies that soldier on here at the farm. Both work well with shot loads killing barn pidgeons.

My CCW classes employ both Ruger Semis and they are well liked by the students. It is a shame, in my opinion, Ruger did not put adjustable sights on the handy Mark II. NOT ALL .22 ammo shoots to the sights on the Mark II. For about $5.00 more, Ruger could have made the Mark II a really good .22 pistol with adjustable sights. Fixed sights are not worth much on any handgun, IMHO!

As far as semi autos go, have had a number of the. Had the Colt Match Target, but not a S&W 41. My favorite semi auto is a dedicated 1911 frame mated to a Ciener Platnimum Cup upper in 22 rf. Wish I could shoot it as accurate as the potential that's there. By far the most accurate .22 rf I've ever owned.

I have a single six in just .22LR, I would love to get the Magnum cyl for it.. great for teaching youngsters to shoot handguns. I really wish I could take it out hunting, but alas, I live in Canada.

I only have one 22 handgun- it was the first handgun I got. A Browning Challenger 11. I like it, and have had no problems with it.

I have a standard model Ruger Mk I autoloader and an old model Super Single-Six Convertible. I put a red-dot on the Mk I and boy is it a tack driver. My Super Single-Six has a 6-1/2" barrel and shoots pretty well. The only thing I don't like about it is that I made the mistake of sending it back to the factory to have it re-gutted to a transfer bar system. The transfer bar hangs up on the firing pin probably 20% of the time. Luckily Ruger returned all the original parts and one of these days I'm going to put it back the way it was to start with. The only other .22 handgun I've ever had was a High Standard (I think it was called the) Sentinel. It was chrome-plated (or maybe it was stainless) and had a 6" barrel. There was nothing really wrong with it other than I just didn't like it and traded it off for something else.

I have a few Ruger 22 guns, as one would expect from a collector at his hobby since 1971. Been an RCA member since 75. But my favorite guns are 1) my original single six convertible 6 1/2 inch which I traded for at age 16 and I have carried for near 50 years, it is well worn. 2) Then my NR9 that I shot in many championship silhouette matches over the years. I never was able to shoot the standard auto to my expectations, as the Nambu grip style just did not fit my hand. 3) But I have owned several Browning Buckmark silhouette guns and they have a 1911 style grip frame, which fits me much better. A 5-inch target model with a red dot rides with me on the tractor just about every day at the farm. I think I am up to two dozen turtles from my fishponds with the Browning.

I use Bearcats to train new shooters with for a revolver if they are youngsters or ladies. It is a great little training gun, accurate, small grip and light.

I have been through many .22 rf handguns through the years. Currently I have a S&W K-22 (Model 17) with 6 inch barrel and a S&W Model 41 with long barrel and a Ruger Gov't Model with long barrel. I used to have a S&W Model 18 w/4 inch barrel but let it slip through my fingers. I am looking (but not hard) for a Model 18 to replace the one I let get away. I know the ones I have will long outlast me and they are very accurate.

How many are DUMB enough to get rid of a k-22 5 screw?I should have been kicked[it was well used],First .22 Ruger mk1 155.00 1981,surprisingly I have an FIE single action [.22lr only],that shoots quite well after replacing the front sight to make it taller.Everyone should have a single six. I forgot,My FIRST .22 pistol was a HY-HUNTER for 35.00 paper route money.Talked Dad into buying it when I got my first Ranch[only ranch ]Job at age 16.

My favorite "woods walker" is an older S&W k-frame 4" .22 revolver. Mine is inappropriately named the "Combat Masterpiece" and the same model later became a Model 18. I'm not sure if S&W still makes a k-frame .22 revolver.

I also used a Ruger 4" semi-auto for a while; but eventually trade it on a SxS shotgun.

gold40, S&W still makes the model 17 and Model 18, but now call them "Classics". I believe the 17 is available in either 6 or 10 shot cylinders.

I have a couple. A SW 18-3 which was my first real hangun. Its over 30 years old and going strong plus a High Standard Military Model which is awesome Semi that shoots where you point it. If I had to keep one it would be the 18-3. Dang I have put a lot of rounds thru it. Plus it don't kick like a 357.
