Va's rifle opener...

After a rough but promissing ml season, my rifle season opened slowly as well.

Two does both with fawns in tow were within 40yds ...but nuthin followed them. A third showed promise when she tried to sneak past the corner of the pasture....30min later a spike followed her path through the cedars.

That was it....another long cold day in the stand with nuthin to show for it. 4days...no meat in the freezer.

My dog is starting to lose respect for me.

Archery has been interesting. Had a lot of sighting. All but one have been bald. A lot of yearlings plus a button buck weighing about 50lbs. Did the the ars of the big boy were after. Our shotgun season starts next week. I will head to the mountain for a couple of days but will finish off the season with my Matthews.

Have seen a number of foxes, coyotte and even a fisher cat.

Been fun.
