Sports Authority

Became a giant, noticed this morning they have bailed out on a chapter 11
and all stores will be liquidated. They pulled firearms a while back.....guess the spandex market just wasn't enough! Not to be single issue but hunters/shooters only make up 20% of the market place....we have to get more newbies into
shooting sports!

HOLD THE HORSES

9am update.......after morning coffee, NOW, they are only 'thinking' liquidation.......be several days before they decide. I know better than to trust media!

Dan,

I fondly recall shopping in Dave Cook's sporting goods stores at 18th and Larimer in downtown Denver and in the shopping center out in Lakewood. I bought a few military surplus arms back in the 1960s there.

With the aging of existing hunters and not much new recruitment, our hunters' numbers are shrinking. Here in PA, there is essentially no small game hunting anymore. The game commission does stock about 200,000 pheasants annually. The hunters get 30% and the coyotes, hawks and foxes take the rest. Our deer situation is about as grim. Bottom line: young kids will not tramp all day to see no small game and will not sit for a day or two and see no deer.

Warning........be careful of these 'liquidation' prices.....most I saw were the same as old ones or higher than the competitor! Few real deals...JMO

Fwiw

If you inherit any SA discount coupons, toss them...they refuse to honor them! Prices are not that good any how.

They will not be missed

The local Sports Authority never did that well. I agree that their pricing left a lot to be desired. All the best...
