Rifle Stock Masking Tape DATA.

We all often put a piece of wide masking tape on the butt stock of our rifles indicating current scope setting and load data. I included the "4 clicks Right needed" to return to another load setting.

Today, I replaced my sling swivels on a favorite FN .243 scoped rifle. I decided to remove the masking tape data and found a gooey, hard to fingernail scrape mess. I finally removed the caked-on tape data, but the stock area was sticky. I tried alcohol and a dry cloth and it remained sticky. I then tried mineral spirits on a cotton ball and a dry patch and WALLA! All is now back to normal.

For whatever this may help others, I humbly offer my experience.

Adam
