2010 U.P. whitetail

Got lucky the morning before Thanksgiving and took a really nice buck (for the area) on the west end of the U.P. He ran right up behind me while I was pushing out a swamp for a buddy. Got him at 25-30 yards with a Marlin 336 30-30.

That's a nice buck for ANY area! Congratulations, and glad to see you took him with a classic rifle/cartridge combo!

Mr. 16, you're right, he's a great deer for anywhere.

Just the first deer I've seen while hunting in the UP bigger than a forkhorn. It was just really a very special thing to see one like that up there. He was a 4.5 yr old deer (or so they told me @ the DNR check station). Very rare to see a buck of that age class in that area. It's likely the biggest buck I'll ever take up there. And I was grinning for a week.

Thanks all for the congratulations.
