As was stated, the good old days are gone.....and if you take a good look at the 'used' market for just about ANY firearm, the prices are going through the roof......Colt revolvers & semiautos, S&W revolvers, ect. Even the less popular bolt actions, such as the Remington 788, are commanding top dollar (and folks are getting it!).
I haven't been to a gun shop in a while.....gun shows even longer! Last time I was at a shop, the spot where the surplus arms were kept was pretty bare. IIRC, the only two rifles on the shelf were an old Mosin-Nagant and a French rifle (Berthier?), and both had seen a lot better days.
One Sporting goods chain store here (Dunhams) carries all sorts of surplus arms, mostly Mosins and old mausers....most appear to be in fair condition, but again, prices are high.
