I wrote the article to help folks whom might want to build a sporter themselves, in their garage or shop. A to order Swede costs way to much, as you noted.
I understand about the call of the history of the guns. Sometimes I keep one or two as original but usually the majority get altered. One day I will find an original M-94 Cav Carbine and go ahead and choke down the $25 VS $500 or so they are bringing now. But even the "original" 94s I see at shows have been messed with.
