Talking Gut Hook sharpening?

Just bought a blade with a decent gut hook got home and found out it was duller than a q-tip. My crock sticks won't fit into the bend to sharpen it, was wondering what suggestions everybody had?

Find a dowel rod approx the same size as the area ya want to sharpen and put some wet or dry of the appropriate grit around it an sharpen away!

I'm a lazy ol' dude so I use a Dremel tool with the small little grey sanding points that have a diamond abrasive in them. They are very fine and do a good job of sharpening where other tools won't fit. They also polish the metal giving a professional looking product.

I always thought a gut hook would be formidable in a fight. Slash 'em with the blade and zip 'em up with the gut hook. Messy.

Best wishes, Bill

Another thing you can try is this....

some of those small narrow diamond sharpening sticks designed for use on serrated edges should work well with practice.
