Last sporterized military rifle
I just returned from the local gunsmith. He is a swell guy, good friend and a master craftsman. A few months ago I bought a sporterized Springfield 1903A1 with a ruined bore and a drop-dead gorgeous stock. Midway had '98 Mauser barrels on sale in .280 Remington and I took everything down to friend Lester. He had never fitted a '98 Mauser barrel to a Springfield, but assured me it could be done.
The barrel was fitted with mimimum headspace, the action was blued and everything looks great. I plan to shoot it this weekend. All the best... Gil Last edited by Gil Martin; 03-25-2005 at 07:28 PM. |
