Mr. 16 gauge, I do custom stocks and checkering; been doing it for about 30 years. By the time you make a cradle, buy the tools, do the job, and pay for the bourbon you will need afterward, you will find it is less expensive to have some one do a simple 22 stock checkering for you. Of course, if you have some masochistic tendencies, you should try it for yourself. After 30 years of it, nothing is very frightening. One absolute thing to remember: checker under incadescent lightiing. If you try with flourescent, you will never have shadows to show you the lines. Drives me nuts to try that.
