Restoring an old harrow.

A neighbor offered me a 12-foot wide harrow for taking it away. I also got 4"teeth" to install in the gaps in the 3 rows of spring teeth. The harrow is set up for 3 rows 4 feet wide of teeth and each of the 3 "gangs of 4 feet" has its own depth control handle.

I finally drilled the holes in the base of the teeth to fit the brackets on the frame to mount the teeth. I used a ratchet and twisted off a few of the rusty bolts. A trip to the hardware store got replacement bolts.

The harrow (some locals call it a "drag") ,set deep, did a wonderful job tilling both of our gardens. The neighbor thinks the drag is about 90 years old and was horse-drawn in the Early Days. Well, it still works great and someone else will use it 90 years from now.
