A letter to Bass Pro Shops
On the morning of November 4th my hubby and I ventured south to take in the grand opening of Bass Pro Shops in Toronto. Considering what is available online and in their stores in the US we were anticipating finally finding some decent gear for my daughter and I. Well, it didn't happen. We were saddly disappointed with the selection of women's gear. There was little of it and what there was didn't come close to being practical for a northern climate. Actually, there was more of a selection of camo in the lingerie section than there was in the hunting section.
![]() ![]() Last week I sent a email letter to the manager of the Toronto store in hopes that it may bring a response, and may give him a little incentive to make an attempt to get some kind of gear for women into the store. That letter, as follows, has gone unnoticed. ![]() Quote:
Bass Pro Shops is a huge ourdoors chain. They boast a wide range of gear for women, they even have a guideline on their website to assist women in finding the right type of clothing needed. I can assure you that lingerie does not fit the bill in Canada, or anywhere else for that matter.

Im proud of you IQ
You know not alot of People wouldnt Voice up like that, Most people would just sweep it under the rug and go on. But not you, Im very proud to see you send them letters like that. Not enough company's make woman's hunting clothe's, And the ones that do should have everything there for you to buy, not order.
I hope you get an answer from them, If you do please let us know what they said. Id like to hear thier answer on this. Good Job on the letter, I think many are proud of you & your thoughts on this subject, I know I am. ![]()

I'm proud of you to IQ. One thing you might want to try is to send it to the man himself, Johnny Morris, the founder of Bass Pro or at least send a second letter to him. I believe he is in Missouri, working out of that Store.
I don't remember if you told me that you had joined NWTF or not, but Brenda Valentine is the spokesperson for the 'Women In The Outdoors' and is also the spokesperson for 'NWTF' and 'Bass Pro'. I can't rightly say how you would get a hold of her, but I think she is co-host to Outdoor World, which is Bass Pro's hunting show. I know that she does a lot of hunting in Canada. If you could somehow come up with her address or email she might be able to help

Now that is a heck of an idea GSP. I'm pretty sure I can get her addy from a friend in Kentucky. She's works for her local chapter of the NWTF, and yes I and my daughter are both members.
Hmm...y'all got some wheels turning for me now. ![]() Johnny Morris, I'll have to remember that. I'm still working on the letter I'm going to send to Missouri, hope to have it done and on the way later this week. Think I might even send it priority post. ![]() I posted a copy of the letter on my website. Don't know how many would see it there but figured it couldn't hurt.

Good for you...nothing beats a good letter writing to get attention...this letter going to the write person might get the changes you need...Lets face it...its a win win for everyone..I dont have too much of that in the Lauderdale store..Our big draw is salt water fishing and right behind that fresh...so alot of gear for that..seems the attire is keeping up...but lets face it its alot cheaper outfitting in shorts than cold weather gear...you gotta gripe, we agree, keep up the good work...

Call Cabela's. I do all the time. We have a big Bass Pro right across the river from me. A huge store filled with lots of things none of us outdoorspersons need. I can't tell you how many times I've been in there only to find they don't have what I need. I waited two years for them to get a Remington rifle I wanted, hearing time after time: "we could sell a 100 of them, if we had them." I bought elsewhere without a problem. Cabela's has always been very helpful and they carry the goods. Hope something good comes from your letter. Good hunting, grayghost

I don't know what their SM is like but the GM for my box sure don't like filter downs through corp HQ. Look what I found:Mr. Johnny Morris.
