How did you get your "handle?"

My "handle" is Adam Helmer because I read the book, "Drums Along the Mohawk" (circa 1777) 5 times and saw the 1939 movie 8 or 10 times. I would have taken the main charachter, Gil Martin, but my twin brother took that for his "handle", so I took the #2 charachter in the book, Adam Helmer.

I like that era of American history, have a degree in history and am a hopless romantic who treks the woods with flintlock and 'hawk with my loyal Golden, Webley, on every nice day I have yet to live.

I just asked "Forestwalker" the source of his "handle" in another post on this site. I then had reflective thinking and thought we all have a reason for our handles. Ok, so why are you, "you"?

Adam

The WOODCHUCKCHUCKER, that what everyone calls me. I've been hunting groundhogs with passion since I was about 11 years old. I'm now 55. I start in early spring and I hunt almost daily into late fall. I had an article published in THE VARMINT HUNTER MAGAZINE last summer, telling the story of how I came to kill almost 5,000 groundhogs. (I should hit that magic 5,000 number in the summer of 2005) About 10 yrs ago I had business cards printed up to hand out to the local farmers. I tried to think of a catch'y caption to head those business cards. I finally decided on WOODCHUCKCHUCKER. Its been the woodchuckchucker ever since. I've killed groundhogs with most every type of firearm imaginable. Flinters, cappers, inlines, handguns, rifles and shotguns. You asked for it, you got! Take care. Bill.........

DaMadman.

Just always been a half a notch on the crazy side. Madman was always taken so instead of TheMadaman I used DaMadman.

Not quite as crazy as I used to be but still a "just a touch off kilter" in most peoples opinions

Reminds me of a pretty fitting line from a good ole country song.......

I shoot a Pedersoli Quigley Sharps. Added the 45-70 because it's the caliber I chose.

Drums Along The Mohawk

Read the book many times, saw the movie over and over. Gil Martin was a character that I admired and he had a nice wife. The book was better than the movie because they took some liberties and shortcuts with the text when making the film. All the best...

Prior to the internet, I became a fan of the 16 gauge when I had a problem with my 12 gauge double and had to use the "club gun" on a shooting preserve on time, which just happend to be a 16 gauge pump (The use of the gun was free, but I had to buy the shells.....at greatly inflated prices! ). Anyway, I became a fan of the gauge and bought a couple of shotguns in the gauge. We were on a preserve hunt one time and I was hot....I couldn't miss! One of the dogs flushed a chukar and the other three hunters in the group opened up on it with their 12s and missed. When they were empty, I pulled up on the bird (now a long, long ways away) and pulled the trigger....and the bird dropped with a golden BB in the head. The other fellows jaws dropped, and I just acted like it was an every day occurance. One of the other fellows said, rather snidley, "Allright, Mr. 16 gauge.........."
And the name kinda stuck ever since!

Mine came from my favorite character from one of my favorite movies, Pulp Fiction. Vincent Vega was John Travolta's character, but I didn't want to use the whole name so...
I have other handles other places...but this is the one I use on all my message boards.

I adopted mine as a handle for cowboy action shooting since I thoght it engendered a vision of a real Mexican bandido-killer from the San Antonio TX area, where Santa Ana had the DeGuello ("NO QUARTER") played over and over as his troops stormed the Alamo....

Scroll Down, then Click on the Mexican Flag for the DeGuello
