Possible trouble with sabot
I loaded up my muzzleloader night before deer season, 120 gr. loose pyrodex and TC Shockwave 240 gr. with the plastic tip. About 6 inches down it started to get real hard to push down, and 2 inches from my loading rod marks it was stopped. I tamped it down but decided it was not getting shot out with me holding this rifle. I pulled the breech plug, dampened powder with cleaning solution, more like soaked it, and pushed it easily out the muzzle. Cleaned up the barrel and loaded without a problem. I finally dug the bullet out of the basement trash and saw the plastic tip had bulged out the copper jacket, possibly from a short starter with too small a hole for the plastic tip? That is all can say for now, never had that happen before with my set up, and haven't looked into it further.

I have never heard of that before, But your explaination of what happend, sounds like it could of happened just the way you said.
Ill keep my ear open to this problem, If I hear of any such problem's Ill let you know. Let us know if it happen's again, You might write the Sabot Maker & see if that could of been why you couldnt seat it all the way. Good thing you were paying attention, It could of ended up worse than it did.

Saybotts, I hates 'em!! I've never had a problem like that shooting PowerBelts or White's big heavy conicals!!

loading tool
Did you use your ramrod with the special loading tool for those types of sabots?.

I'm guessing the bullet starter/ramrod jig was the issue as well. Those shockwaves are a tight fit in many bores to begin with, so using the wrong starter/jig would only lead to problems.
btw, TC was having some Sabot issues earlier in the year. There were a couple batches of bad sabots from the company that makes em' for TC....QC issues with outside dimensions. Some of these took everything you could muster and then some to seat andif you were lucky enough to have a nice gu nwith a good tight bore, good luck! I was trying them in my Rem at the time and didn't have good luck, we had a fresh snow and there was no consistancy in where the sabots were falling, some right at the muzzle, others 50-60 yards down range etc. I have a newer batch but haven't tried them in my Encore yet.

Billy, I used the end of the ramrod with the tapped hole, and again I think not the right way to go using a starter that was not made for them. I loaded back up with power belts without any problems and shot a 6 point buck a couple days later facing me about 40 yards away. A good clean kill, no exit hole.
