Wild Boar Drive Hunt Pics
Had a great hunt last weekend. Heard the boar coming, got my shot off on one, partner next to me got his shot off, and my other partner cleaned up. A few minutes later two more came through and my partner got his last shot off at like 10 feet to give him a double. We had to drag ‘em off the mountain and were a bit tuckered out. Total from the hunt was 14 boar, 1 deer, and 1 fox, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Thanks GSP, and those are some beautfiul dogs on your site. Yes, we used a variety of dogs, including GSPs. One favorite dog to use is the slower dachels (dachshound, but not the wiener dogs, usually long or wirehair and trained for hunting) and terriers, they push em around but don't run em down. And then there's always a couple of bloodhounds for after the shooting stops to trail any wounded. We had good hits and didn't need to track any on this hunt with dogs -- most common calibers for the wild boar over here are the 7 & 8x57s, and the venerable 30-06, with a few 45-70s & 308s thrown in. It is exciting when a large group of boar run by you at close range. I use a Rem 7400 '06 with Holosight for drive hunts, w/QD Leupold mounts, so I can throw the scope on that's in my ruck if I'm seated in open areas. Always a great day when they run in your direction and you make a good clean (sauber) shot!
