Hey Ol_spark.. and the rest of you PA Hunters

Doesn't look like they are going to change anything for this year!

http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/v...?Q=163271&A=11

Probably allocate more doe permits b/c we're overran with deer

Thought that would brighten your day. (did you notice the bit of sarcasm in there?)

The key word there is "preliminary". Those idiots don't know anything but "to stay the course". I wonder whose is going to be this years "sacrificail lamb". I think they appointed some lady to deal with (convince) these opposing sportsman clubs that the PGHC is right. I"m not buying a license to support wildlife that is no longer there. I'm going to use my money to fund a lawsuit against the idiots that cannot back up the figures they are using to sell their position. They are obligation to protect the wildlifge in Pa. and right now, I think there is enough evidence on the Sportsman's side to win that thing. We will see how things develop.

And thanks Petey, that did make my day. lol

I almost had another deer run into my car last night. Same place as earlier in the year. That home owner now has a corn feeder right next to the road so he can watch the deer from his window. What a terrific idea. I'm taking another route home until warmer weather gets here. Someone else can kill his deer with their car. Call me thick headed, I guess.

Heck, they don't need to issue more DMAP permits for the National Forest. Acorns don't grow on Maple or Cherry trees. The Forestry Service will starve the deer for the PGC. They are in the same bed anyhow.

My oh my, where to start. The deer fiasco looks like it is going to continue. Now they are having a problem with the elk that they imported. It's a good thing they thought that through. Two turkey in the spring with an extra license? I am convinced that the pgc is doing everything it can to kill off every living thing in Pa while making as much money as it possibly can. If I can ever afford a piece of land myself, the pgc can stick their license where the sun don't shine. I am positive I would have more care and concern for the land and ALL the animals, not just trophy buck, than the pgc does. Actually trophy buck wouldn't be high on my list of priorities.

i will try to keep this free of profanity despite being way pissed off. got the news release last night. despite the fact that they want to make rifle for doe season even longer in my neck of the woods. i guess griping about the deer isnt worth it any more its been done plenty. but the turkey thing, do we really need to screw (see, no profanity ) with the turkey thing. seems like just another reason to charge for a license, but i guess some one here will like it. just the way i view it, is i would see myself shooting the first jake opening day , just because i could hold out for a whopper later. another year and i wont be able to use my rifle either. and rumor has it soon the doe license will be up to 8 bucks along with other license hikes
whatever, im sick of getting worked up with the game commission, hope the rules benefit some one, of course i still cant hunt sundays

BOHICA

I am certain the game commission is on a money kick. 21 bucks for the extra turkey tag for residents and $41 for non-residents. Seems like alot of money to me. Why wouldn't the WTF back them. They are about conservation and the turkeys hunters promote habitat regrowth and regeneration of the turkey population. The feel that if they get their own tag that it'll keep the everyday Tom, Dick or Vern Ross out of the woods so the select few can enjoy THEIR sport. The catch is that even in the PGC announcement they stated that the funds could go toward habitat improvement NOT THAT IT WILL. If the NWTF is backing this proposal I just wonder what organization is backing the deer management plan. The National Timber Growers. Governor Rendell?

BOHICA - Bend over, here it comes again......

"At this time, the Board has determined that we must stay the course in our efforts to balance the deer herd with its habitat,"
Having hunted in 2D for 20 years I can say the deer herds have been reduced to a tenth of what they were before bonus tags and extended seasons. It's really quite sad.

Since 2D is primarily strips of woods divided by large fields that are not being farmed (the product of a lot of strip mining) there hasn't been a food shortage in over a decade here.
