Doubtful you'd want it to hunt with. It falls way short of the .308.
The 6.5 Grendel on the other hand is comparable. The 6.8spc was designed to fit in the mag of an AR15 and offer better stopping power, downrange energy and less wind drift than the 5.56. In desert warfare it has it's place.
