Finally dad wrote from Iraq--pic
Well, I hadn't heard from my dad for almost 2 months until today. He said it is really bad over there and all he wants to do when he gets back is fish for largemouth with me. On the other side, I think he likes to believe he can still kick some butt at 58. He said he started lifting with the troops over there and benched 225, 3 times at 58 years old!

He is a broken down old warrior...last time he was at his physical, as he left a ton of physicians stopped by and said by looking at his charts that they wanted to see face to face the man who is not supposed to be alive, yet walks around, fishes, shoots guns, lifts weights, and does all kinds of stuff.vashadow

He looks like a proud fella too..we'll surely keep him in our prayers on Sunday..let him know he's gotta lot of folks rootin fer him from the ole state of Virginia...we're very proud of him.
Aint no such thing as old..he looks like he got more grit in his face than most 25 yr old folks I seen. Grit is all that counts anyways. (Grit meanin gumption..er..gumption meanin..puttin yer nose to the grindstone..er..hell..if ya'll dont know what I'm talkin bout ya'll gotta figure it out on yer own lol)

Glad he is doing well and staying out of harms way.
I got an offer this week to go over there and work with their police force and might have taken it but at 57 I better stay home. Price tag was 125,000 + for the year But tempting as it was I will pass

Glad to hear he is doing well VS.
Many families are going through hardships and heartaches right now because of the war. Some voluntary, some not. We just recieved news last week that my next door neighbor was deployed from Iraq to Kuwait , and now find he is due home this weekend. He may already be stateside for debriefing as I write this. He is a member of the National Guard, and has been deployed away from his family since Thanskgiving of 2003. Luckily, he was able to come home for a 2 week leave during this past Thanksgiving and see his family. He has 3 children, the youngest was only 5/6 months old when he left. He'll have alot of catching up to do once home. Everyone of us should drop down to our knees and thank God for people like him, who have put their lives on hold, to keep us free and protect the world when called upon. It is a specail breed of person that will do so, and exactly what makes our country great. I truly hope that the Budweiser ad that they had in the SuperBowl of people clapping, while our soldiers walked thru the airport, is a daily occurence as these heroes arrive home.
