Quieter draw...carbon or aluminum arrows?
I am just trying to refine my bowhunting presentation this off-season. I have only ever shot aluminum arrows. For those of you that have shot both carbon and aluminum arrows, which draws quieter?

From my experience it all depends on the rest. Some rests make more noise with one than the other. Sometimes there is even a difference between brands of carbon arrows.
I work it just the opposite. I choose my arrow/broadhead combination, then work on the rest to make it quiet. Moleskin, or something like it, has solved many problems in with noisy rests. |

from my experience carbon draws quieter one more thing if you shoot alot i think you will find the speed you draw at also makes a bit of difference carbon will outlast aluminumday in and day out i also find carbon will fly straiter if you shoot aluminum and then shoot carbon the carbon with out adjusting your sight will be higher in the target which also means you might get a little more distance out of your bow with confidence

Big country,
I've messed around shooting both graphite and aluminum arrows and found that at 20 yards they pretty much hit in the same spot. The reason for this is that the larger diameter of the aluminum shaft sits higher in the rest, giving it a higher launch angle. Past 30 yards, then the heavier aluminum arrow drops more. This doesn't happen with all set ups. The design of the launcher arms will make the difference - not all launcher arms will hold the a larger diameter shaft higher. |
